Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες θα αποσυρθούν επισήμως από την Οργάνωση του ΟΗΕ για την Εκπαίδευση, την Επιστήμη και τον Πολιτισμό (UNESCO) στις 31 Δεκεμβρίου ανακοίνωσε το Στέιτ Ντιπάρτμεντ σε μια απόφαση που σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες πληροφορίες σχετίζεται με τις περικοπές δαπανών αλλά και την στήριξη που παρείχε η οργάνωση του ΟΗΕ στην Παλαιστίνη. Ελάχιστοι όμως θέλουν να αναφέρουν ότι o πρώτος πρόεδρος που κήρυξε ανοιχτά πόλεμο στην οργάνωση του ΟΗΕ και σε άλλες οργανώσεις των Ηνωμένων Εθνών ήταν ο Μπαράκ Ομπάμα.
